From East High to The Heights

Atencion! The rising star and alumni from the award-winning movie High School Musical, Corbin Bleu is leaving the silver screen behind, if only for a brief moment, to take on Broadway. The actor/artist has scored the lead role of Usnavi from the Tony Award winning musical In The Heights. Four time award winning musical to be exact.

Though this role is very diverse from anything Bleu has done previously, you can expect to witness nothing less than greatness. According to Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator and original Usnavi of Heights, Corbin "SMASHED his audition." I for one am excited to see his growth as an actor and artist and believe that he is more than capable to perform this role exceptionally well.

In The Heights, is an outstanding story of the faith, family, friends and home of the inhabitants of Washington Heights, a Dominican-American neighborhood in New York City. Though the characters and musical scores (mixtures of hip hop and salsa) are very urban and ethnic, the issues discussed are those we can all relate to as human beings. There's love, hate, loss, gain and other problems that are relevant to this day and age, which could be one of the main reasons it has been so well received. It's message is directed towards everyone. Though I'm pretty sure the bouncing beats, lyrical brilliance, and cool dance moves had a lot to do with it as well.

So get ready to jump out of your seats, and move your feet to the bass as you learn how to survive on Paciencia y Fe! (Patience and Faith)

I couldn't resists:) Yours Truly

In The Spotlight: Nick and the Administration

Who is Nick Jonas? I think we're about to find out. During the Grammy nomination concert December 2, Nick Jonas (or should I say Kevin and Joe) introduced us to his new band, The Administration. They performed their new single "Who I Am" which gained a standing ovation. Maybe this is some sort of sign. They performed at the Grammy nomination's this year. Next year could they possibly win one? Only time will tell.

But what I can tell is that Nick and his band's new album "Who I Am" will hit stores February 2, 2010. To promote this new album, Nick and the Administration has already been touring. Good news for Delaware. You could be attending one of those dates.

WSTW is holding a new contest for the residents of Delaware (or the tri-state area if you're that dedicated). The winner will win tickets to Nick's show at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia scheduled for January 9th. For more information on how you can see Nick and the Administration live go to: http://www.wstw.com/contest.php. God Bless!

ps. This is only a side project! Nick Jonas is not leaving the Jonas Brothers. Not like he could anyway. They're brothers. So everyone can relax and enjoy the ride. You can bet it's gonna be amazing!

Classic Tales Retold

Christmas Comes Early This Year

You know Jim Carrey as the comedic actor everyone loves, but what about the grumpy old man who everyone loves not so much?

This year Carrey's bringing the Scrooge out of him as he portrays the selfish miser who despises happiness in Disney's A Christmas Carol. He also plays the three ghosts that visit Ebenezer with visions of the past, present and future. Gary Oldman (who played Sirius Black in Harry Potter) will play Scrooge's deceased business partner Marley as well as Bob Cratchit and the adorable and sickly Tiny Tim. Unlike other versions of this commonly recreated tale, Carrey has promised that this take on the classic stays true to the novel.

This 3D animated comedy hits Imax theaters everywhere November 6, so grab your 3D glasses and prepare to experience Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol like never before.

Wanna be part of the experience? Check out http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/christmascaroltraintour/ to find out how you can hop aboard a Christmas Carol Train near your area during the free tour attraction.

The Madness Begins Again

Ten years after her first drop down the rabbit hole, Alice falls back into Wonderland for yet another adventure and you are invited.

In this new take on the treasured classic Alice In Wonderland, Alice reunites with all of the quirky and eccentric individuals, including the Mad Hatter played by Johnny Depp, she met during her first trip to Wonderland, but this time a war has broken out. Her friends are ready to take on the terrorizing Red Queen, but they need Alice's help. The only problem is that she doesn't remember them. Follow her journey as she relives the whimsical world of Wonderland in this 3D live action and animated film. With it's breathtaking visuals, in depth characters, and fresh original take on Lewis Carroll classics, you will feel as if you're experiencing the tale for the first time while also being reminded of why you came to love it so much.

Directed by Tim Burton you can expect a strangeness that Johnny Deep will no doubt pull off, causing us to fall in love with yet another one of his cooky characters. Come join in on the fun once the film hits theaters March 5, 2010 in 3D and 3D Imax.

For more information and a trailer of the movie check out: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/aliceinwonderland/

Miley's Oscar Movie?

First she's collaborating with a fashion designer and now she's working with a bestselling author! Miley Cyrus is on a roll and it only gets better from here.

Inspired by "A Walk To Remember", Miley Cyrus spoke her interest of wanting to do something similar to the film version. This interest got passed to the author of that novel and now the young and talented star has won herself a role that's much mature and emotion driven than anything she's done before.

The Last Song, written by Nicholas Sparks, yes the popular writer who's known for keeping Kleenex in business, is about a bitter teenage girl named Veronica (Ronnie) who still holds resentment towards her father after he broke apart their family. Unfortunately for her, she and her younger brother Jonah are forced to reunite with their estranged father who now resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. You can bet how that reunion is going to begin. This story is about love in all its different colors and shows how faith will always make a way for anything.
The film isn't due to hit the silver screen until January 2010, but if you seriously can't wait until then, the novel is on sale now! If you're like me you're probably going to read the book and still pick up a ticket the day the movie hits theaters:)

Music You'll Love: Gifts From Two Friends

Selena Kisses and Tells

No, I'm not talking about romance wise. I'm talking about her brand new album, Kiss and Tell. Selena says that her sound is a mixture of the styles of her equally talented bff Demi Lovato and Lady Gaga. From that comparison you can expect heartfelt songs with rocking techno beats. Not only will she be laying down the vocals, but on some songs she will also provide beats on the drums and a little electric guitar. There's no question about it, Selena Gomez is not just an actor, but an artist.
Her album hits stores September 29, but don't worry. Her first single, "Falling Down" (which is number 3 on Radio Disney's Dot Com Top Three!) can be purchased on iTunes tomorrow! Plus, the video for "Falling Down" will premiere right after "Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie" which airs this Friday, so don't forget to tune into Disney Channel starting at 8/7c.

Wow! There's lots going on for Miss Gomez this month, but guess who she gets to share the special month of August with ...(besides yours truly of course)

Demi Brings the Dynamite

That's right! A very happy birthday goes to Demi Lovato who turned 17 on August 20th. Yes, Demi is growing up and not just physically, but musically. Her new album Here We Go Again, is proof that change is a good thing. In her case, the best thing!

This time around Demi steps away from the style of Jonas and steps into her own. Here We Go Again has more of a soulful sound being inspired by John Mayer who co-wrote the ballad "World of Chances." Tracks like "Remember December" are reminiscent of the rock star in Demi, while "Everytime You Lie" reminds us of how powerful her vocals are. Overall, this album will be loved by every current Demi fan and even brand new fans lured in by her new sound and angelic voice.

* Special thanks to alpmu for Selena info!

What's In Music

Jordin Has The Cure
This is an Emergency, 911! If you have not picked up Jordin Sparks brand new album "Battlefield", you have been derived from some of the best music of the summer. Dance tracks like "S.O.S (Let The Music Play)" and "Walking on Snow" will keep you up on your feet while smoother tunes like "Watch You Go" and "It Takes More" will calm you down as you relax on the beach. So what are you waiting for? There are only a few more weeks left of summer (sad but, true) so there's no better time to pop this album in and spend your last summer days partying to the sounds of Jordin Sparks.

And A Miley Song is On

Do you love the song playing during the promo for Miley Cyrus and Max Azria's new clothing line? Well, you can now purchase "Party in the USA" at itunes.com. If you tuned into the 2009 Teen Choice Awards a few days ago, you got to see a performance of the song by Miley herself. To this day, it is still stuck in my head.

And if you're wondering when Miley will release another album, wonder no more. You can expect Miley's new "mini" album "The Time of Our Lives" to hit the Walmart stores exclusively August 31. There will only be 7 tracks to this album (hence "mini"), one of them being a live version of the song "Before the Storm", which she recorded with the Jonas Brothers. For more information and a full tracklisting of this album go to http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12029840#About+the+Album.

Speaking of Miley and Max, if you're looking for some new styles to start your school year off with a bang, check out this duo's fashion collaboration at: http://connect.walmart.com/MileyCyrusandMaxAzria/?adid=1500000000000006820330. If you want "great styles at incredible prices" this is the place to go. I've found cute tops for $12 and less and and funky shorts and pants ranging from $20-$10! Whether you're sparing a buck or not, you will love this collection of apparel. Who doesn't love a good bargain, especially when the selection rocks!

The Green Colored Anthem

Most of you have probably already been singing along to "Send it On" (myself included, especially when Demi Lovato's part comes up) every time the "Friends for Change" promo airs on Disney Channel. Now we can finally learn the words to the rest of the song. You can purchase the full track on itunes at itunes.com/disneyfriendsforchange and all proceeds will go to environmental charities funded by Disney.

The music video for "Send it On" will premier today on Disney Channel so watch out for that. Also, "Lights, Camera, Take Action! Backstage with Disney Friends for Change", a half-hour special which will show behind the scenes footage of the campaign production, will air right after the premiere of the DCOM "Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie" only on Disney Channel. *

So if you are one of those rare people who haven't been informed about the worldwide call to help keep out planet clean and green, Disney is making sure you get the message this month as they deliever it to you personally. And remember "with one little action, the chain reaction will never stop."
Still need more music check out my myspace for what's hot this month

Reg and Pledge

Disney Channel Stars are joining together for what could be one of the most important causes of the world. Mostly because it involves the world. God’s earth is such a beautiful place, our home. But in order to keep our home safe and clean we have to start changing the way we treat it.

Disney's Friends for Change: Project Green
are asking for your participation. When you're done with your can of soda or bottle of water don't just toss it in the trash bin, recycle it. Make sure you turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth or switching off the lights when you leave a room. They may seem like simple things, but if they're done continuously, it truly pays off. Believe me. My parents couldn't have been more thrilled when they saw the electric bill last night.

Still, we can't do it alone. One person can make an impact, but together we can make a change. Join us in the movement so that we can keep our home clean. One friend at a time.

So, take a friend to
http://disney.go.com/disneygroups/friendsforchange/ to register and pledge for a change. We need all the help we can get.

The Greatest Word in the World

I know it’s been a while since it’s release, but this project is so special that I thought I should bring it up again. Through sound effects and the voices of many rising Disney Channel stars, the Words of the Bible are brought to life, reaching out to the youth of these days in the Dramatized Audio Bible Word of Promise Next Generation. It is extremely important for young people to familiarize themselves with the Word and to know what the will of our Father is. So many things are going wrong in this world, but with the Lord guiding you and building you up in His perfectly pure Truth we are able to overcome these difficult times.

Please pick up a copy or a Bible in general and just set aside a few minutes of your time to breath in the Words of God. It will change the way you live for the good as you fill your heart with the Promises He has for your life.

Participating actors include Cody Linley as Jesus, Corbin Bleu as Peter, Jordan Sparks as Elizabeth and many more.

Summer Fun

From Experiments to Exterminators

They're cute. They're furry. And now they're saving the world in 3D. Stepping out of their cages and into the secret agency, these fuzzy friends are on a mission in the new Disney movie G-Force. Operation stop the evil billionaire from destroying the world is in fur effect. It sounds like a pretty tough job, but with a determined commander, an extreme weapon expert, a martial artist, and a cyber tech no task is too difficult. Not to mention they're equipped with cool, miniature spy gear and a trusty fly on the wall. You can be sure they'll take the enemy down and still have time for a veggie snack later.

These characters are brought to life by stars such as Nicolas Cage, Tracy Morgan, Penelope Cruz and many more. Be sure to catch them if you can when they creep into theaters July 24, 2009.
http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/gforce/

Where Art Thou Jonas?

Everywhere! You've tuned in to their brand new series JONAS and over flooded the theaters for their 3D Concert. Now you can witness the magic live. That's right! The JoBros are getting ready to kick off their summer tour starting June 20th. They'll perform songs from their new album "Lines, Vines and Trying Times", which hits stores June 16th. Plus they'll be joined by special guests Jordin Sparks and Honor Society. TV shows, albums, tours. What don't these boys do? Whatever it is, you can bet they'll figure it out and do it next year. But until then, for more information on tickets and tour dates go to
http://www.disney.go.com/jonasbrothers/.

BFFs in PPP

Where do the princesses go when their lives are in danger? To the Princess Protection Program, of course. That's exactly what happened to Princess Rosalinda, played by Demi Lovato, in the new DCOM. She escapes the invasion of an evil dictator with the help of agent Mason and is taken to his home for safety. Unfortunately, his daughter Carter, Selena Gomez, isn't so thrilled about the idea of having a Princess as a souvenir. Will the two manage to get along just like the stars who portray them? We'll have to find out when it premiers on Disney Channel June 26.

The Magic of Giving Back

Disney isn't all about hit movies, high rated TV shows and blossoming stars. For years, it has been helping those in need, including children with illnesses. In honor of that, I want to tell how you too can make a difference in someone's life.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been one of the most recognizable charity foundations sponsored by Disney. It grants the wishes of children with serious sicknesses giving them the chance to see their biggest dreams come to light. Nothing touches the heart more than knowing you've made a big impact on a little kid's life and you have the opportunity to do so. There's lots of ways to help out which means different chances to put a smile on a child's face. Money isn't the only way to pitch in.

We Disney lovers should also be endorsing charity work, getting involved and volunteering. We have the power to influence others and one of the best things to support is giving back. Spread the word! Once more people hear about how important it is, more people will lend a hand which means more help for the needy. So when you're sitting at home bored with nothing to do, start searching for ways to invest your time. It'll be worth the work.

Want to be a part of the magic of giving? Just visit http://www.wish.org/ for more info on how you can make dreams come true with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Love, peace and joy

Food, Forecasts and... Frogs?

E is for Edible

Hungry? Then why not try the New Kellogg's High School Musical Cereal? One bite and you'll be belting out your favorite HSM songs throughout the course of the day. Sorry, wildcats not included, but you could always cut out the fun games on the back and hang them on your walls. It's what I would do.
Seriously, when you wake up in the morning and see your face on a box of cereal that should be the proof in the pudding, or in this case milk, that you've made it. You are a star. Just like the vanilla star shaped corn cereal you'll find in every spoonful. I wish that there were more ingredients though like marshmallow shaped basketballs.

Anyway, I could always munch on my High School Musical cheese and cracker snacks if I'm still hungry. Not to mention the gummy candies left over from Halloween. And the hard candies I found in my HSM Christmas tree ornament. The list goes on and on. So if you aren't ready to say goodbye to the Wildcats just yet, then say hello to a cupboard full of HSM goodies!

Funny Sonny

If you haven't tuned in to Disney's new television show Sonny With A Chance, you have been missing out.
Turns out, it's actually funny. I say this because some shows, you know which they are, play off of weird jokes that wouldn't be funny in the natural but somehow end
up getting a laugh. This show has real jokes with actors you can't help but fall in love with. After the first two episodes, I was immediately hooked. Usually, whenever I see reruns that means it's channel surfing time. But with Sonny, I actually sit through the whole episode laughing just as if I were watching it for the first time.

Demi Lovato not only has an amazing voice, but her comedic skills are just as great. Her witty exchanges with costar Sterling Knight makes you wish they would go on forever. Overall, the SWAC cast is certainly not lacking in any area. Each member is funny in his or her own way, but when they do it together the show becomes a hit.

At first I was a sceptic, thinking it was just going to be another Hannah Montana. Wrong! The two shows aren't even comparable because one's completely different from the other. Hannah is Hannah and Sonny is Sonny. Two different girls. Two different personalities. Two different shows. With one similarity that is: hilarious leading actresses.

If you don't want to miss out on the funny, make sure to watch Sonny With A Chance at 8/7c only on Disney Channel.

Classic Disney Is Back

It's been years since Disney has created a 2D film and I, like many of you, have been missing the classic Disney style. Well, the wait is finally over. This year, Disney will present to us a musical take on The Princess in the Frog. Just like past fairytale stories gone Disney, you can expect lovely musical numbers and stunning art in this film. From the trailer, you can even expect comedy.
The story is based off of the fairytale we've all come to know and will include characters such as Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. Most of us are familiar with the story, but something magical happens whenever Disney places their touch on it, turning it into a fresh, new adventure.

That's about all the news I have for you guys at the moment. If you have anything Disney you want dished out contact me at wordsupinfo@aol.com.

What's in Movies!

Word's up, people? It's me again, yours truly. For my first official "Word's Up Now" blog I want to inform you on the new movies coming to a theater or DVD near you.

Let’s Get Crazy!

Miley Cyrus is taking it back to where it all began and she wants you to come along.

That’s right, Hannah Montana will hit the big screen for the second time in Miley’s new movie Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Living a double life for so long, Miley may now once and for all have to choose between her two worlds. There’s love, friendship and of course Miley music and this time she brought some friends such as Rascall Flats to join her on the soundtrack. You can also expect special appearances by Tyra Banks, Taylor Swift and the up and coming artist Steve Rushton, plus many more.

The release date has been moved forward so make sure you go check it out April 10.

JBs Go 3D

Screaming girls, get ready to pump up the volume because the Jonas Brothers are soon to get up close and personal. On the big screen, but still. Not only will you get the total concert experience, but you will also get a backstage pass into the lives of the JoBros all with the purchase of one ticket for Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. Two for one specials always rock. But not as much as the Jonas Brothers will when you watch them perform songs from both of their albums in 3D.

Also, be on the look out for the two talented singers Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato who will be joining the brothers on stage.

Now I’ve never been to a 3D concert before, so I am not aware of whether or not you’re aloud to jump out of your seats and party out. But once your favorite song comes on it’s going to be pretty hard to keep it under control. If it’s totally fine, then go for it!

February 27 is only 3 more days away, but when it’s finally here you better slap on your 3D glasses, hold on tight and get ready for the ride of your life, Jonas Style.

Motors That Matter

Ladies, he’s back and he’s all grown up! Corbin Bleu will portray an 18-year-old motocross racer in his new movie Freestyle, which he helped produce. It’s about the struggles of a young man with a dream and the responsibility of taking care of his family.

The song “Moments That Matter”, sung by the artist himself, will be a part of the soundtrack for the film. You can check out a clip of that video and listen to the full song on corbinbleu.com.

The trailer is running, scenes from the film are all over the web (his hair looks bouncier than ever and I love it), and you can even catch him riding his own bike on his YouTube channel. The only thing missing is the release date. Whether or not it will hit the theaters or go straight to DVD, I am not sure. Either way, anything Corbin Bleu related I will definitely support.

About Them Oscars

So Miss Miley Cyrus arrived on the red carpet last night to attend the Oscars. She looked
stunning btw. I loved the dress. But she made what some people would say a bold comment or very optimistic comment about her new movie Hannah Montana: The Movie. She hoped she would be back to maybe win an award for this film or maybe just got nominated. She went on to say that it was a lot deeper than people would expect. Now I know what a lot of people are thinking, but I myself am no doubter. Even if she doesn’t win it next year, don’t be so quick to write her off. Miley is very talented and if it’s not a Grammy than it could just be an Oscar. With the right part, who knows? In any event, I am very excited to see what’s up for her next.

Speaking of Disney at the Oscars, High School Musical 3: Senior Year had a little bit of spotlight during the show. Scenes were played during the romance montage and the movies couple Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron even got to do a performance with the host Hugh Jackman, BeyoncĂ© and the stars of Mama Mia all celebrating the rise of the musical. I don’t know about you guys, but I honestly don’t think that’s the last we will see of them on the Oscars. Call me crazy, but look at John Travolta and. Olivia Newton John. Nuff said.

But I want to know what you think. Could we see Oscars in the future of our Disney stars? Give me a shout out at wordsupinfo@aol.com

That's it for me. For what's what and who's who, keep it right here at "Word's Up".

Word's Up?

Ok, first I would like to thank you for stopping by even if it's just one viewer, you are appreciated.

I am writing this blog honestly, just because I love to write. I love to write about what's going on in the world and expressing myself in this form of art. It's very discovering and fun for me.

During this process I hope to inform a lot of kids out there and maybe even inspire them to go pick up an album or even inspire them to write. If I help anyone through this in anyway than in itself it is a blessing!

God Bless and I hope you enjoy!

Yours Truly
